Your SAT score is an essential part of your college application for MANY reasons but in short, your SAT (or ACT) score helps admissions counselors find the most competitive students for their institution. Remember, admissions counselors are looking through hundreds of applications a day, and you want your application to stand out. Some colleges have a minimum SAT score requirement and may not admit a student due to this criteria. Also, SAT scores help schools and external scholarship committees find the strongest candidates for merit-based scholarships.
